Answer to a friend From Brazil!

Ian:

Yes, you are right about the cocaine addicts in the U.S.!, but (there is always a but!), It was our government who ask for this agreement based on the speech of joint responsibility; U.S. citizens sniff cocaine, and the cocaine fuel the war here in Colombia, so you U.S. are part of the problem and we need your help, because we are just a small economy fighting a worldwide illegal drug mafia that sometimes have been powerful enough to destabilize our country.

And the problem my friend is, that Colombia does not have the necessary resources and technology to fight and defeat the FARC guerrillas responsible for over 15.000 kidnappings, and hundreds of massacres and all sort of crimes against humanity, and of course: Cocaine trafficking.

Remember what kind of monster are we fighting: Once The FARC guerrilla put a collar charged with explosives to a lady asking for money, they didn't pay and her head exploits, Yes, this lady in the left side.

Another one: they recruit under age kids (even under 14) to fight, and not because these kids like the guerrilla, but because they threaten the families “your kid fight with us or all of you will be killed”.

Want some more?, the FARC have planted thousands and thousands of land mines in the country side of Colombia, there are a lot of unsafe places crowded with landmines, and hundreds of innocents are killed or injured every year because of this.

That is why we need that help, not just now, but back in the time of Pablo Escobar (The CIA provides intelligence to kill that bastard) and recently after a disastrous government of our former president Andres Pastrana when the peace talks failed and we need to force the guerrilla to negotiate by defeating them militarily.

This help has worked very well: all the indicators of terrorist attacks, kidnappings are decreasing dramatically, you can see now that Mexico is becoming the source of problems related to Drugs instead of Colombia, and we felt sorry for Mexico, but better them than us, and yes we kill one of the FARC leaders in Ecuador, but you have absolutely no idea how happy we were in that day when finally we kill that animal (remember Colombia have asked through the appropriate diplomatic channels to Ecuador and Venezuela, to investigates if there are members of the FARC in their territories, they always said no!) and meanwhile those FARC animals kills more and more innocents in my country.

We have hit the guerrilla's top men, and also we have uncovered the strategy of this dumb-ass Hugo Chavez who try to use and support the guerrilla in Colombia to control this country and finally create a block to direct and gain influence in all Latin America.

This dictator called Hugo Chavez had always use great words and had always use the word war, he insults the President of the united states, the king of Spain, and everyone who disagrees with him (you can see the human rights situation in Venezuela checking this www.caracasnine.com, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxUNCqZoqMA); you have no idea what is being a neighbor of that donkey called Hugo Chavez; He is going to use every weapon in his arsenal (Including economic terrorism, and threat with a war) in order to bring under his command the politics in Colombia, that is one goal he needs to reach to gain the influence and the power that he wants.

And remember that we spent money in military equipment but we bought equipment for the guerrilla war, Chavez has spent over 3.5 billion dollars in airplanes (Sukhoi 27), tanks, submarines among others for a conventional war, and has always threaten Colombia with war, we cannot defend ourselves against that power.

He has trained his military personnel with a war game called “how to invade Colombia and defeat his army!)”, now he must know that if he attack Colombia (and believed me, this is a plausible scenario when the oil price falls he will begin to have troubles just trying to feed the population, and then he will try to mislead the attention from that trouble, creating a war!); now he knows he can face a much greater counter attack than only the Colombian forces, and that should act as a powerful dissuasive; That’s why that Venezuelan ape is so frustrated and threatens with “the winds of war” and is actually cutting the commercial ties with Colombia.

So, due to this constant threat from Venezuela, and due to our needs in terms of real time Intel, it seems sensible for us to ask help from the U.S. Government (First: the one who shares responsibility in the cocaine problem, and second: The one with the means, the money and the disposition to help.)

The president Lula is right about something when he tries to reach a formal document where the U.S. was invited to make explicit the reaches of this agreement (to prevent that U.S. gather information on Brazil or Venezuela or Ecuador), and in this part you are absolutely right: Colombia cannot control what kind of intelligence the U.S. Gather here while their airplanes and ground personnel are in Colombia's soil, and that will be the slap on our face to our sovereignty an the whole south American community.

But as you see, from my personal point of view we still win with this agreement.

Letter to a friend in U.S. regarding the U.S. military bases in Colombia

Hi Jose,

I was just wondering what the average Colombian thought about the idea of US bases in your country. I know that it has Hugo Chavez rather upset.

Also, did you hear tha the US DEA caught a Syrian with ties to Hezbollah trying to sell weapons to the FARC?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/20/nyregion/20sting.html?_r=1&ref=americas

Hi Shawn,

Let me tell you that the average Colombian have a very high and positive opinion of the U.S. aid; And because we hate the FARC and we hate Hugo Chavez, We support this agreement.

Nevertheless, the main concern between the educated people in Colombia is that the U.S. military and civilian personnel in Colombia would have immunity and we have had in the past rapists between the American military personnel and others who abuse of this immunity to commit crimes without been punished by the law, (sadly that happens!).

FARC are now trying to realign his military strategy, and they need weapons to beat the airborne advantage of the Colombian Army and Air Force: Hueys and Black Hawks purchase to the U.S, and Tucano airplanes purchased in Brazil,(this ones works with propellers that gives them less speed, and because of this, they can bombing with more accuracy in our jungles the guerrilla camps), talking about low tech war!!.

The FARC use mainly RPG to attack our military Helicopters, but the Colombian Government know they are looking for Stingers and more sophisticated weapons (Mainly Manpads: Man-Portable Air-Defense System in the black market, to beat our planes and Helicopters).

Should not be a surprise that the FARC name would be use to catch this weapons dealers (it has happen in the past).

Be well

Jose Andres

IRAN AND NORTH KOREA. BEHAVIOR IN INTERNATIONAL POLITICS:

The new president of the U.S. Barack Obama starts his administration changing paradigms in U.S. Foreign policy, a new way to look at things is developing right now in Washington, for some people will be too little too late and for others (Mainly Republicans), is the wrong path to follow, and for many people in the world (including me) it’s just a breath of fresh air, He is doing all the sensible things that you are suppose to do when you have such power as POTUS (President of the United States) have.

Let us take a closer look to these two unfriendly countries that have been “called” by Obama to make a reengineering of his relationship with the free world (That means the Western World).

Iran has a history of anti Americanism probably in the recent history the Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini was the one who escalated the most the anti Americanism in Iran, but the most important think for the NOT scholars in this subjects is that in Iran the Ayatollahs hold most of the power, that happened with Khomeini from 1979 to 1989 and now with his successor Kamenei.

Khamenei issued a statement of support for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; therefore, the president would be merely a puppet for the Ayatollah and his court, the real rulers of the country.

But what are trying to preserve in Iran?; Maybe now with this new diplomatic speech they just wanted to assure they will still have a difficult relationship with the U.S. why?, and here is the important point, This is because they need a high price in oil in order to make profitable the production of oil in Iran, they have such an old machinery and old technology, that they need a high price in order to make it profitable because is the main export and source of money for this government; Also this is the way they can rule the country under the Islamic paradigm,
the last thing the Ayatollah want is a country becoming a secular state.

Pretty difficult isn’t it?, but although at first glance the attitude from the U.S. towards Iran seems very soft, compare with the strong statements in the past administration, it looks more sensible, this prevents injects fuel to the discussion and at least won’t fire up the oil prices (Much more intelligent than the predecessors).

Now, what about North Korea?, Kim Jong Il, is old, and according to some reports he had suffered an stroke in august 2008, that’s why many people believe that he is currently preparing his Third son and a brother in law to succeed him in power; That could explain why he is raise the stakes with his nuclear program and his threats of attack even Hawaii in the U.S. he is preparing a strong introduction to the world for the new iron hand in the power line in North Korea; But this has gone too far, even Russia and China does not support in the Security council this behavior, and every ones knows that an attack from North Korea towards U.S. or one of his allies (South Korea, Japan) will launch an immediate retaliation with devastating consequences for Jong’s Il Dynasty and For North Korea Of Course.

The international Arena Does not look easy for Obama, but we will see how the world reacts to this new speech and his all new approach to this countries, I still think this new policy puts more pressure on Iran, North Korea, Syria and others than in the previous administration, what do you think?

Stem Cells and our future

Obama opens a new path to funding research on stem cells with federal funds, but what are the implications of this new policy?

Check the basics first: What are Stem Cells?

According to the National Institutes of Health resource for stem cell research defines the Stem Cells as follows: “They are the kind of cells that have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types in the body. Serving as a sort of repair system for the body, they can theoretically divide without limit to replenish other cells as long as the person or animal is still alive. When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential to either remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a more specialized function, such as a muscle cell, a red blood cell, or a brain cell.”

That means we are going to be able to repair the damaged cells from our bodies, an example?, recently scientist have been doing some research to cure diabetes, they put stem cells into the pancreas and they recover the capacity of the pancreas to produce insulin, Great Isn’t it? .

Another one?, we can create Synthetic Blood, (wow!), Because of this, they did not need blood donors (great, they can save a lot of money with the biscuits and juice they give you in order to attract people to donate blood), they will be producing O Negative Blood which is the universal donor “group whose blood can be transfused into anyone without fear of tissue rejection.

This blood group is relatively rare; applicable to about 7 per cent of the population, but it could be produced in unlimited quantities from embryonic stem cells because of their ability to multiply indefinitely in the laboratory.” Says the independent; A UK journal; this blood will be free of virus such as HIV and Hepatitis.
This new path in science will bring us a lot of ethical issues such as: there will be people not very happy with the idea of destroy embryos to create Stem Cells, (By the way according to Carl Sagan the characteristic that made us unique as a species is the use of our brain, our conscience, I will leave the ironic comments for later!, and you can see this when the brain starts to present electrical activity, and that happens in the sixth month of pregnancy, according to his definition, we can only call human an embryo after the sixth month!, but still we all know that in the first month still the only choice of this embryo is to become a human being, it is just a matter of time to develop his brain!), in theory one embryo can meet all the needs of blood of one nation.

Another challenge that this technology will bring: will not be available to all people, hence the first filter will be… Money; That means this will be available first in the developed countries, which will increase his life expectancy and it will increase the pressure for dramatic changes in their pensions systems, health systems, and maybe work regulations, This will be a form of an accelerated biological Darwinism?, filtered by money?, where will leave this the underdeveloped countries.?.

The accelerated pace of changes in today’s world would leave us with a huge differences with the quality of live in the developed and underdeveloped world, you can add this to the list: differences in access to energy (U.S.A. spent the 25% of all the energy produced in the world with only the 5% of the population living in this country), also the digital Gap (where the vast majority of web pages and digital services where focused in U.S.A.), now you can add this new biological technology.

Now I can say confidently that the technology will shape tomorrow’s world, the question remaining is in what way?

See it was not a small change after all!, the research on stem cells with federal funds.

GM and the global warming. (The whole Detroit Business)

So, GM is in trouble as well as Ford and Chrysler, and as an icon of the American culture this brings a lot of emotional issues for the Americans, but to be honest, besides the economical effects of this bankruptcies, it seems that the Americans already decides they not like the American cars, except for those who spent 10 or 20 times more in petrol just to go and bought an overpriced cup of coffee (American way of life!), and by this I mean SUV’s like the Ford F Series, Hummers (the version of a chubby boy on steroids, pretty much a portrait of many Americans, many of their owners ranked this vehicle last in a J.D. Power survey because of the consumption), Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban, Chevy Silverado, Dodge RAM.

Here are some numbers according to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) Fuel Economy Guide 2008.

I put in the first place the Smart Convertible, a vehicle with one of the best fuel consumptions, just to compare.

For the complete guide check at: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/FEG2008.pdf

Top Best Sellers in U.S.A. 2008

Source: http://autos.aol.com/gallery/2008-top-ten-best-selling

% of increase is:More than 60%

If the top 10 best selling cars in America were all Smart they would spent in Petrol around U$2.9 Billion Dollars, with only the 10 top sellers in 2008, the fuel consumption is nearly U$5 Billion, (To be honest I took the worst consumption rate to put in this table!, the biggest engines available, but anyway!) still that’s a lot more!

The Americans who under the government of George W Bush rejected to adhere the Kyoto protocol to avoid the global warming; In that way they spent the 25% of all the oil consumption in the world, a country that only represents the 5.1% of the global population, but they just simply don’t care! (Not all of them of course, you can find sensible and smart people that until this moment haven’t made any difference!).

I know many of this huge Pick ups were use to carried on tools man and stuff, but still, in All over the world the leading pick ups are the ones who can carry on the job without excessive petrol consumption (pick ups with small engines capable to carry a load of up to 1 Ton, with nearly half of petrol consumption)

And the other cars are just cars to go from point A to Point B, but with “style”, this Style costs a lot for the whole world, they smile and laugh if you talk with an American about the small-efficient European cars, but to me it seems they need to learn how to be sensible and “smart” with this planet, like many people in this world (Europe, Latin America, India, China, Japan).

This trend of petrol abuse on behalf of the American way of life is unsustainable, they need to change.

Now, The three big automakers are in trouble, GM, Ford and Chrysler, they build Huge cars because they are profitable (small cars, small business said the arrogants in GM), and recently I heard that Bill Ford the grandchildren of Henry Ford were more likely to support hybrid cars, but the board of directors and other powerful people in Ford choose to follow the known path, which is that path?, built huge, expensive, petrol inefficient vehicles like the F series, Ford Explorer, Ford Excursion, and so.

Then what happen if this companies files for bankruptcy and let us say they do not recover and they close “ford ever”?

Well, now a growing numbers of automakers designed cars only with the North American market in mind, (Nissan Armada, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mercedes Benz G series, BMW 5 series, Volkswagen Touareg), how we can send this message to our chubby, environmentally retarded North American citizens?, who in pursue of “status” aim to purchase the biggest vehicle possible?, They should learn from Europeans, that “the car that you have represents what you are” a mentally retarded with no respect for the environment

If the three big ones of Detroit fail, maybe this could be the down payment that drove us to more environmentally sensible products in the car market, but maybe not because the three big ones are just a lousy automakers, the good ones could replace this American cars, with others made by a Japanese or German automaker.

But what happen with the financial crisis? , maybe now with this two effects (one as a consequence of the other), this could lead to a change in the perceptions of the American Citizens, and under the government of Obama and his secretary of Energy Steven Chu (former Berkeley Lab Director and Nobel Prize in physics) could show them a new way to save energy and our environment to our chubby, insensible Americans citizens.

MEXICO A "FAILED STATE THREAT" BECAUSE OF DRUG WARS?

Mexico is in trouble and increasingly become a important problem to his neighbor
United States, because of the violence, pressure and corrupting power the Mexican drug cartels has been gaining throughout this years (particularly the gulf and sinaloan cartel).

Colombia used to be the center of the production and distribution of mainly cocaine and Marihuana, and during the 80’s and the 90’s; And in this Andean country the drug cartels increase his power through the corrupting charm of money, and in that era (specially the 80’s) the Colombian society was permissive with this traffic, Because in that time the U.S. was more concern about the cold war and his enemies in Eastern Europe behind the iron curtain than a drug trafficking problem in a country in the corner of South America (nuclear threats beats Drug Trafficking).

Now the congress of the United States approved a package to help the anti drug war in Mexico for about U$400 million, Colombia now has a U$550 million after years of lobbying, but Mexico because of being a neighbor can get it in just a few months, after a serious and violent episodes in this war.
Now just look at the facts in Mexico:

- Increasing violence (the last year 5.000 homicides were connected with this war).
- Increasing numbers in all types of violence (kidnapping is increasingly at a very fast speed)
- GDP of Mexico U$ 893 Billions at the end of 2007
- In 2008 they spent 0.46% of his GDP, nearly U$4.1 Billion in defense (less than Colombia!)) Who has a GDP of U$249.8 Billions (both were calculated with the current exchange rate, not PPP), Colombia invest 2.2% of his GDP in defense.
-Colombia spends over U$5.5 Billions in weapons in order to fight the Drug trafficking guerrilla, and some other groups like some factions of the paramilitary forces (Mexico needs to increase his defense expenditures and create a sensible strategy to fight this threat)

Stratfor an intelligence web site made an overview of this increasing spiral violence spiraling, lets see:
- “Edgar Millan Gomez was shot dead in his own home in Mexico City on May 8, responsible for overseeing most of Mexico’s counternarcotics efforts. He orchestrated the January arrest of one of the leaders of the Sinaloa cartel, Alfredo Beltran Leyva.”
- “The week before, Roberto Velasco Bravo died when he was shot in the head at close range by two armed men near his home in Mexico City. He was the director of organized criminal investigations in a tactical analysis unit of the federal police. The Mexican government believes the Sinaloa drug cartel ordered the assassinations of Velasco Bravo and Millan Gomez. Combined with the assassination of other federal police officials in Mexico City, we now see a pattern of intensifying warfare in Mexico City.”
The fighting also extended to the killing of the son of the Sinaloa cartel leader, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman Loera, who was killed outside a shopping center in Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state. Also killed was the son of reputed top Sinaloa money launderer Blanca Margarita Cazares Salazar in an attack carried out by 40 gunmen. According to sources, Los Zetas, the enforcement arm of the rival Gulf cartel, carried out the attack. Reports also indicate a split between Sinaloa and a resurgent Juarez cartel, which also could have been behind the Millan Gomez killing.“
This summarizes the most recent spiral of violence created for the drug trafficking, the question is? This would end soon?, and the answer seems to be a painful: NO.
While Colombia engaged a frontal fight against the drug cartels in the 90`s, and after this country defeat the cartel of Medellin and the cartel of Cali, No without a high cost in human lives and after a serious threat of become a failed state in the 90`s., this defeated cartels in Colombia lose the distribution business in the U.S. a part of the chain that starting in that time to be controlled by the Mexican cartels.
It seems that the story is happening again, while the cartels grow, a lot of people benefits from the money they irrigate, and when this business reach a certain point the fights between the cartels over the control of territories and the manage of the huge amounts of money that this business produce.
Right now that is the scenario we are seeing in today’s Mexico, off course the society felt comfortable while the narcs do they business and spent money like crazy people, but once they reach this inflexion point the things began to seem nasty and the violence skyrocketing in biblical proportions; you can expect more horrendous crimes from this war.
Mexico needs to learn the lessons from Colombia at a fast pace!, they already have a Free Trade agreement ant his time to market is unbeatable but still it seems they are not capable to spread the benefits from that prosperity to his citizens, who insist in crossing the borders heading towards U.S.A.; And it seems that this happens because a high level of corruption, bureaucracy, and lack of quality in the justice management.
The current Mexican president took the initiative to fight against the drug cartels and this is only the awakening of this nightmare for Mexico, there is going to be a lot more to come, and now it seems that the international pariah regarding drugs will be Mexico instead of Colombia.
Mexico is about to take the painful road, but there is a difference now; Obama seems to be looking for alternatives to this prohibitionist policies, maybe we are reaching the point of change (like when they allow the consumption of alcohol and tobacco), and this will make it easier for Mexico, but if this change would not happen soon, maybe it will become true that Mexico is a failed State, unless the Mexican society felt so compelled to fight that they were willing to pay a high price and willing to make incredible sacrifices in order to liberate themselves from this course, but with his level of education, his ethics and moral values (not properly the best) and a serious lack of culture (they are like new rich people!, blinded by the money!), my bet is that Mexico will become a Pakistan in America, Even they insisted that this is not true! (They are liars too!).

Abraham Lincoln, against all odds!

The 16th president of The United States, convey a story of fight against all odds that made him the president of the United States of America, and began the process to change the history of this country.

Some people said that the legacy of Lincoln now is fulfilled with Barack Obama, the first African American in the presidency, 143 years after he was murdered, the man who fought for the emancipation of the slaves, and the man who be determined to give to the slaves the right to vote; But now even more, one of the African Americans is now the president of the U.S.A..

Abe Lincoln, Was born in a poor family, he said that among his earliest memories he remembered a flash flood that washed away the corn and pumpkin seeds, apparently his mother was an illegitimate child, his younger brother Thomas die was he was a kid.

When he has 7 years his family faced a lawsuit against his farm in Kentucky, then his father moved to southwestern Indiana, living in a kind of a very primitive “cabin”.

His mother died when he was 9 years old! But quickly his father got married again and Lincoln have a maternal caring powerful figure; He just go to the school by “littles” as he used to said, but the history tell us that he used to have a long walks only to borrow a book!

Try different careers, and study on his own law, and when he was a successful lawyer he was recognized for being extremely honest.

He and his wife Mary Todd had 4 children (only one survive!), His wife has declare insane.

He suffered a lot of political and financial troubles, and finally he was murdered being president of the United States. But still he makes history, why a man with such amount of troubles had become one of the world icons in political history?.

Personally I don’t know if Lincoln wanted to do what he did, or if only follow the path that was open in front of him, but his legacy prevail, against all odds.

Sometimes the most smart thing is going against all odds don’t you think?, that applies in almost every field (financially, politically, Love).

Do not restraint ourselves in a little mental barnyard; If Lincoln would fulfill the predetermined destiny he would have been a farmer, maybe a poor one; instead, he is now a well renowned historical figure, so open yourself to a new challenges and opportunities, I am pretty sure you’ll find an amazing and exciting future regardless the troubles.

Social Darwinism

200 years since Darwin was born; a lot of dissertations pro and against his revolutionary theory, some people said: “ I’m not the evolving descendant of a monkey”, some people said, “everything works because evolution, and there is no god”, and that we are all atheists, The thing is some of us just go one god further” (Oxford Professor Richard Dawkins said this, and explained that all of us do not believe in gods like Shiva, Ala, Dionysius or any other, but only some people go “one god further” )

http://library.thinkquest.org/C004367/eh4.shtml, this place describes social Darwinism as follows: “Social Darwinism is a belief, popular in the late Victorian era in England, America, and elsewhere, which states that the strongest or fittest should survive and flourish in society, while the weak and unfit should be allowed to die. The theory was chiefly expounded by Herbert Spencer, whose ethical philosophies always held an elitist view and received a boost from the application of Darwinian ideas such as adaptation and natural selection.”

Jürgen Neffe said in an article published by the Jerusalem Post that this particular way of thinking seems to prevent that someone like Obama (bi racial and working class) reaches the most powerful political seat in the world. But he did it!, and the question is We really are evolving in our society in politics as we evolve biologically?

Here I go back to one article by Sigmund Freud: “Das unbehagen in der Kultur” who said basically that we tend to think the society has advanced and we are more civilized because we are technologically advanced, but that is a mistake.

The fact that now we have more science at our service does not mean we are becoming more civilized. Why?; Because we use that science for the same and basic principles of being uncivilized (destroy other countries, kill people, you name it).

During the past years a major improvements have taken place in our lives, the food, medical care, quality of life, but in the next 100 years it will be a skyrocketing increase of many technologies that will improve our lives and us in a greater way.

Chips inserted inside us that allow our brain speak a lot of languages without studying it; Genomic therapy and drugs that will cure diseases that right now we can, and The possibility to design your own babies disease free among other things (would it be possible to change the color of his eyes?, his contexture?, what would be catalogued as a disease and what not?

It sees like Brave new world from Aldous Huxley – Isn’t it?, now we have the ability to create and improve our world as a part of the new social Darwinism, and maybe some people would feel that with our current technology that allow us modify genetically our food to produce more and avoid the Malthusian crash (the food increase in arithmetic proportions meanwhile the people increase in geometric proportions).

Now we control the evolution right?, now we have become our very own gods?, there is a phrase very famous of a former Colombian politician: “The power for what?”, we have the power to increase the production of food, but still there are hundreds of thousands starving to death in Africa!, and if we can design our babies, ok it is going to be something great and the strong prevails, the one with money (it starts to sound like this movie Gattaca also right?), but who is strong?, George Walker Bush was a “strong” individual, would you see something positive that someone like he can design his babies and you can’t because it´s too expensive?, life is unfair and we are just like the Neanderthal, just that now we have blackberry’s? You tell me!.

About success and failure; Where to put the limit?

Adolf Merckle, German Billionaire, he lost hundreds of millions of euros in a bet against the Volkswagen stock, he lost and he commit suicide, he had an empire of roughly 30 or 40 Billion euros in revenues.

I was talking to one psychologist, she conducted a research about the people in the high positions within the companies and she told me these are the most dissatisfied people ever, even if they are VP’s, they felt like nothing, “they can’t get satisfaction” they always wanted more.

Thierry Magon de La Villehuchet, 65, invested 1.5 billion of their customers in the madoff’s ponzi scheme, Alex Widmer, 52, work at Julius Baer, they said (his dead is not related to bank issues), Kirk Stephenson, 47, he lost his Money, by investing in UBS shares (this shares were used as a collateral “The UBS shares were put in a Lehman Brothers Holdings account with a proviso that allowed Lehman to use the assets as collateral”) (info from wsj.com) so he lost everything, and he kill himself.

So, if you loose Money you should kill yourself? We are what we have?, it is necessary to have things and income to be a person, you need to fulfil your needs like in the Maslow pyramid of needs, but when you are above that and you have fulfil pretty much all of your needs, maybe the only need that you need to fulfil is your ego, or the need to show more status.

Why people like Bill Gates get evolved in philanthropic activities trying to cure Malaria, and this guy just kill himself?, why?, maybe they have 2 different ways of see the life!

Merckle inherited his fortune and he make it grow over the years, Gates, built his own empire, and this is a big difference; usually when the self made man face troubles he recovers because they learn how to make money starting from nothing, but when a person who inherited his fortune lost Money, they didn’t know how to Start from zero.

I personally believe this is an important distinction that you must do, in order to learn from failures, and not overreact like this guys! What do you think?

Prophecies, do we really believe it?

Hypothesis: do we really believe in prophecies? Would we live according to what seems to be our destiny revealed through the prophecies? Or we just listen to them and carry on our lives regardless of these images from the “revealed” destiny?

Right now when the world that we live, seem to be diving in a deep negativity and uncertainty; It seems that this pull the trigger of some particular behaviors, because the people felt so overwhelmed by the circumstances that tend to grab themselves to something that they consider certain in their lives, this gives them a sense of security, something that most people need in this times; Part of this behaviors is closely connected with this: The prophecies.

Allow me to check in a very quick way: Nostradamus, one of the biggest celebrities in this field, the Mayan prophecies, The book of revelations (apocalypses), the third secret of Fatima, the secret code of the bible (The author said that in 2006, will be at high risk of a Nuclear confrontation, off course you and I knew that this thing never happen) and even some scientific prophecies like the expected crash of an asteroid against the earth that will destroy all the life in earth by creating a widespread cloud of dust, that will prevent the sun light to reach the earth, killing the plants and subsequently killing all the life on this planet, or simply the degrading pace of the earth environment, a pandemic (The chicken Flu?), or maybe an electromagnetic pulse that will destroy all our electronic equipment getting us back to the Neanderthal Times, oh yeah grab your stick to find a girlfriend, instead of your car, your looks, your money!(See, pretty much the same that today without our mobiles! laptops and stuff!!!), or whatever.

So, this is the end of it?, do you remember the guy from Waco Texas?, David Koresh, nothing happen, and we are still here; For me standing on a rational point of view, this things fall In the field of interpretations, and conspiracy theories, do we need to pay attention to them?, what happen with those guys directed by David Koresh, this people genuinely believe that he was a Messiahs and that the end of the world, was near!, would you think in the same way?

What happen with all those prophecies that didn´t fulfill at all? What happen then? And what happen with that poor stupid people who get caught in those false cults of fake prophecies?

What would happen with the one that it´s true? We never believed in that, because we are rational beings, but we really would felt stupid if a real predicted catastrophe happen! Maybe we didn’t have time to realize what happen because we will be death, all of us!!! (It starts to sound like Seinfeld “discourse” right?).

Why is so appealing to us this kind of subjects?, it´s because we have fear of discover our own very destiny?, I don´t care if my destiny is written in the stars (it makes it sound more interesting), but you are a mere puppet, you just have to fulfill your destiny, I don´t believe in that!, and if that’s true I would live my life creating the illusion that I have a choice, a choice to live a great life or complaining all the time, a choice to pick my wife, the choice of NOT use a car, because I want to help preventing the global warming, or simple because I found another way of thinking!, we have to be able to choose were we going to live!, or at least to be stupid enough to not see the difference between your “choices” and the fact that you are fulfilling your destiny!, A written destiny.
